Academic Support Tutoring
Discover reasons behind your child's academic struggles to help them reach success.
What is Academic Support?
Academic support is a form of educational therapy that goes beyond traditional tutoring. At Empower Child Learning, we focus on the whole child—targeting the underlying learning needs, attention, and processing challenges that may be impacting school success. Using evidence-based interventions, we provide personalized, one-on-one sessions to strengthen foundational skills, improve executive functioning, and support growth in areas like reading, writing, math, and study habits.
Our goal is to empower students not just to catch up—but to understand how they learn best and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Who Can Benefit from Academic Support?
Every child learns differently—and with the right support, they can build the skills and confidence they need to thrive. Academic support services can make a meaningful difference by addressing the root causes of learning challenges. Through targeted, research-based interventions and a supportive one-on-one relationship, we help children overcome obstacles and discover how they learn best.
Our services support children experiencing:
Reading difficulties (decoding, fluency, comprehension)
Dyslexia and language-based learning challenges
Struggles with written expression, including spelling
Math concepts or foundational skill gaps
Executive functioning challenges (organization, focus, time management)
ADHD or other learning differences impacting school performance
Twice Exceptional (2e) students with unique profiles
Low academic confidence or school-related stress
Difficulty retaining new concepts or applying them independently
At Empower Child Learning, we don’t just focus on homework or grades—we focus on the whole learner. Academic support services are designed to uncover the “why” behind academic struggles and provide structured, personalized support using a multisensory approach, the Science of Reading and other evidence-based practices.

Our Approach to Academic Support
Our educational therapists use evidence-based interventions grounded in the Science of Reading, executive functioning research, and multisensory learning approaches to support students with diverse learning needs. Whether your child has dyslexia, ADHD, a learning disability, is twice-exceptional (2e), or just has some academic gaps, we design individualized sessions that target academic skills, promote self-awareness, and build confidence. Instruction is always tailored to how your child learns best.
We believe meaningful growth happens when the student, parent, and ECL teachers work as a team. That’s why we include parent coaching and ongoing collaboration—offering strategies to reduce school-related stress, support homework routines, and empower caregivers to champion their child’s learning journey at home.
Through compassionate, strength-based support, we help students develop the tools they need to fill in academic gaps, navigate challenges, embrace their unique thinking, and take ownership of their learning. Our sessions are designed to be engaging and affirming, creating a space where students feel safe to take risks and celebrate progress.
By supporting academic development alongside attention, executive functioning, and emotional needs—and partnering with families every step of the way—we promote whole-child success in school and beyond.
